Responsabile Biblioteca: Dott.ssa Ilaria Muzii
Opening hours:
The library will be opened to the public before the end of 2005.
The Opera della Metropolitana Library, created in 1997 by Senio Bruschelli (rector from 1994 to 2000), contains some 3,000 books, mainly on Sienese and contemporary art. In 1999, thanks to a legacy from the noted art historian Enzo Carli, former rector of the Opera della Metropolitana, the library gained more than 12,000 volumes. The Carli collection is highly specialized in art-historical topics of major importance for the history of art in Siena and Tuscany and the painting and sculpture of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It also contains a large number of monographs on avant-garde contemporary artists and numerous titles on art criticism and iconography. The catalogue of the library, which is still being compiled, has been integrated into the Siena library system and can be consulted online at www.unisi.it/sbs/accesso.html.
